Tourism is growing in Sundre... more and more people from all over Canada and the world discover our small but innovative community set amongst some of the most inspiring scenery on earth.

As you descend...

...from the top of the Sundre Hill and down into the picturesque valley below, the Town of Sundre blossoms before your eyes. With the rippling Bearberry Creek flowing into the majestic Red Deer River, our town is richly-blessed with tremendous natural beauty. Situated at the base of the glorious Rocky Mountain foothills, more than 2,500 residents are proud to call Sundre their home. Residents are provided with the advantages of continual, progressive development, while enjoying the relaxation afforded by small-town living.

The recreational opportunities in Sundre...

...encompass a kaleidoscope of facilities, activities, and events. Man-made and natural trails meander along the river and creeks, not only allowing access to the arena, curling rink , pool ,green spaces, and playgrounds, but to a bounty of nature's diverse and calming beauties.

In the middle of town is Snake Hill, a natural landmark and recreation area which appears to benignly watch over the town throughout the seasons. The hill offers summer hiking trails, from which there are impressive views of the surrounding countryside, and a variety of winter leisure and sport activities, including nordic skiing, tobogganing, and snowboarding.

The economic base in Sundre is vast...

...and offers many possibilities for employees and entrepreneurs alike. The ever-growing tourism trade is due not only to our spectacular surroundings, but also to the active role the local businesses take in the promotion of the Town.

Tourism is just one facet of the economic base in Sundre, with agriculture, lumber and petroleum industries employing many of our residents.

One of the yearly attractions... the Sundre Pro Rodeo , held in the third week in June. The Sundre Parade, held in conjunction with this event, is greatly enjoyed by all who attend. We also boast both a summer and a winter festival and various cultural and fun activities throughout the seasons.

Clean and attractive camping and RV amenities are available in and around the town, in addition to comfortable hotels, motels, and bed-and-breakfast accommodations.

Sundre is a "green" town

Wanting to preserve our natural beauty for generations to come, we actively encourage and employ conservation practices. Recycling and composting programs are in effect and practiced by residents. Sundre is the 1999 and 2000 Alberta Communities in Bloom winner for populations under 5000, showing our commitment to keeping Sundre beautiful.
